Pottery and Ceramics – all products imported and offered by Tropical Pottery
Gallery, LLC are crafted of the highest quality and sold as new, however,
certain natural imperfections may exist since each masterpiece is crafted
totally by hand. This should not be misinterpreted as a flaw but rather it is
what characterizes our products as genuinely authentic.
With the exception of the Talavera, our pottery is not crafted to hold water
unless a strong plastic lining is used. The same holds true of the ceramic
products. In particular, the elegant tropical birds handcrafted using the paper
mache technique should not be exposed to rain or water. Additionally, each piece
of pottery or handcrafted ceramic is generally very delicate. These products
should be treated with care and handled as infrequently as possible.
Molas – our exquisite Panamanian Molas, in particular the large ones, were
part of the dress used by the indigenous Kuna Indians of San Blas, Panama. For
this reason, these Molas are pre-washed to prevent fading and shrinking. There
are numerous uses for these beautiful Molas but some of the most common ones are
to frame the Molas, to attach them as pillow covers, use them as decorations on
clothing, sew them into a quilt, or any other use one can imagine.
Hammocks – the hammocks we offer were hand woven to order especially for
Tropical Pottery Gallery, LLC. These exquisite family size hammocks made of 100
percent cotton can hold two adults and support up to 350 pounds. They can be
hung between two trees, used with a standard hammock stand, or hung between two
walls with wall hooks.
Our hammocks are made of pure cotton and as such offer luxurious comfort. For
this reason, they should be treated with proper care. Although ideal for outdoor
use, they should not be left in the rain or moisture for extended periods of
time. If you are using the hammock outdoors, be sure to bring your hammock in at
nighttime, or when not in use.
The key to extending the life of your hammock is to store it properly when
not in use. To start, one person should be on each end of the hammock with it
fully extended. First, fold the skirts on each side into the middle of the bed
of the hammock. Next, push the spreader toward the bed (toward the other person)
until it will not go any further. Then place the loop or ball end in the bed of
the hammock making sure it does not get twisted and that the ball or loop is
parallel to the spreader. After that, one person begins rolling with their hands
on either end while ensuring it is as tight as possible. It should be rolled
three quarters of the way and then the second person finishes rolling from their
end. A piece of yarn should be tied around your hammock to keep it tight.
To wash your hammock it should be placed in a bathtub and you should use a
very mild detergent. Be sure to keep the solid wooden spreader out of the water
as much as possible. Don’t use a brush or any other object as the hammock should
be rinsed by hand. Rinse off the soap and get as much of the water off as
possible. The hammock should then be hung outside to dry.
Enjoy your hammock and always use extreme caution when entering and exiting
the hammock! |
